Next year Shueisha, the publishers of Shonen Jump, will introduce a new magazine which offers readers a window to the creative processes of distinguished manga authors. Named Jump Ryu, each issue will include a DVD with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of mangaka at work, while the accompanying magazine will feature original artwork and instructional articles.
Akira Toriyama, famed as Dragon Ball’s creator, is the focus of the first issue which goes on sale on January 7th at the reduced price of 680 yen. Jump Ryu will then follow a semi-monthly schedule, with new issues released on the first and third Thursday of every month at the regular price of 1290 yen.
The second issue, released on January 21st, will shine the spotlight on Naruto’s author Masashi Kishimoto, and Eiichiro Oda of One Piece will follow in the February 4th issue. Authors in line for the featured spot include Osamu Akimoto of Kochikame, Hirohiko Araki of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and the esteemed creator of Bleach, Tite Kubo.
