The creator of the original manga, Kazuki Takahashi, has provided the screenplay and his original character designs, and is also executive producer. Satoshi Kuwahara, of the anime’s fifth series Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, is on board as director. And as you would hope from a return to the classic characters we know and love, the cast of the original Japanese TV series will be taking up their roles again, including:

Shunsuke Kazama as Yūgi Mutō

Hiroki Takahashi as Katsuya Jōnōchi
Maki Saitou as Anzu Masaki

The film is set six months after the end of the manga, described as an “after episode” of the original TV series, and Shueisha’s Shonen Jump has teased what will take place:

In the past Yūgi Yami and Kaiba have clashed many times!! Yami Yūgi, who resides in Yūgi Mutō’s body, and Kaiba will have a duel that bets their prides and accepts each other’s mutual experience.
