Today, the One Piece franchise’s official website announced that the anime’s first winter special this year, titled One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~, will be aired on December 19th.
The original story for this episode centres on the Straw Hats’ rematch with the Foxy Pirates from the Davy Back Fight arc. Foxy and his three new lackeys Dōjack, Kanshō, and Kōmei who comes from a family of tactical masterminds, will meet Luffy and crew on a “Devil Fruit blocking” island where those who have eaten a Devil Fruit can’t use their powers.
Kōmei employs his tacticians’ skills to lead Zoro and Sanji into taking part in an eating contest, where they both eat “good-for-nothing only” mushrooms with the desired, highly predictable results. Under the effects of the mushrooms, the two are locked up in a cell, and when their Straw Hat Pirate mates go to the rescue, they land themselves on Nevlandia. All according to Kōmei’s plan, the fog that hangs over the island leaves Luffy, Robin, Brook and Chopper powerless, as it has the same energy draining properties as Seastone for Devil Fruit users.
Kônosuke Uda, of One Piece episodes 1–278 and the 4th and 7th movies, Dead End and Mega Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle, is directing the episode which will air from 9:00pm–11:10pm on Fuji TV.
At the end of the last special from August 22nd, One Piece Episode of Sabo, it was announced that the anime’s 13th movie will open in Japan in summer 2016.
