Guild members everywhere were left on tenterhooks with the announcement that Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail Zero manga was being adapted as an anime, and the disclosure of most of the main cast in last Wednesday’s issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine. Only Zera’s seiyuu was kept under wraps, until this week’s issue of Kodansha’s magazine. And so today, it was revealed that Kana Hanazawa will be giving her voice to Zera.
Hanazawa, who voices Anri Sonohara in Durarara!! and Akane Tsunemori in Psycho-Pass, said with the announcement that she wants to be faithful in her portrayal of Zera’s strength and gentleness, and is looking forward to being able to talk with Mavis.
The anime is set to premiere in January, and Kodansha Comics, who have licensed the manga for North American release, describe the story as follows:

Seven years went by, and the powerful wizards Warrod Sequen, Precht, and Yuri Dreyer arrived on the island, seeking a powerful jade gemstone. This journey would change the course of magical history…
