When Shogakukan’s web manga magazine Ura Sunday asked readers which of its comics should be next in line for the anime treatment, One Punch Man author ONE’s Mob Psycho 100 was quick to leap up the list. The voters’ wish has now been granted, with a Mob Psycho 100 anime green-lit for next year.
Studio BONES will be producing the series centred on Kageyama “Mob” Shigeo, a boy who ramps up the risk of spontaneously combusting the more his emotions are heightened. Repressing his psychic powers doesn’t help matters, but he’s willing to take that chance for a normal life, and it’s his choosing not to stand out from the crowd which has earned him the nickname “Mob”.
After launching Mob Psycho 100 on Ura Sunday in April 2012, its first physical volume was published by Shogakukan in December 2013, and the 11th and most recent volume is due for release in Japan this Friday.
