A teaser for the second anime film in the trilogy based on Gamon Sakurai’s manga Ajin – Demi-Human has been released on the project’s official website. This movie, titled Shōtotsu (Collision), is slated for release in Japan in May next year.
Shōtotsu follows the first part Shōdō (Impulse) which was first scheduled for two-week screenings in 30 cinemas across Japan, but the huge demand for tickets led to 10 of them extending showings for one more week, ending today.
The cast boasts some huge anime names, with Death Note’s Light, Mamoru Miyano, starring as Kei Nagai, Attack on Titan‘s Reiner, Yoshimasa Hosoya, as Kaito, and Naruto‘s Jiraiya, Houchu Ohtsuka, as Satō (all pictured above). And that’s not the last of the familiar actors involved, as the other cast includes:
Takahiro Sakurai (Code Geass‘ Suzaku) as Tosaki
Mikako Komatsu (Nisekoi‘s Tsugumi) as Izumi Shimomura
Daisuke Hirakawa (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders‘ Kakyoin) as Kōji Tanaka
Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass’ Lelouch, Assassination Classroom‘s Koro-sensei) as Kō Nakano
Hiroyuki Seshita of Knights of Sidonia is chief director for the movie project, with Sidonia’s episode director Hiroaki Ando directing at POLYGON PICTURES, and Yuki Moriyama, also of Sidonia, as character designer. Hiroshi Seko, who has written scripts for Attack on Titan, is supervising the films’ scripts, and Yuugo Kanno of Psycho-Pass is composing the music.
There is also going to be a TV anime premiering in January on MBS, TBS, and CBC, which Netflix will be streaming in Japan three days after the first episode airs, and in other territories covered by the service from mid-2016. As you would expect from a series, it will provide more detail than the movies, giving further depth of insight into this sci-fi world and its characters.
