The main cast of the upcoming Kuroko’s Basketball stage play have been revealed in costume in a teaser visual on the play’s official website, with the rookies Kuroko Tetsuya and Taiga Kagami portrayed by Kensho Ono and Yuuya Asato, and Shota Onuma as their Tōō Academy rival Daiki Aomine.
Kensho steps up to play Kuroko in the flesh after voicing him in the anime since 2012, and he and his friend and enemy don’t look to be the last of the reveals of cast in their kit. There are two more silhouettes shown on the site, and they seem to belong to Mario Kuba as Ryota Kise, and Ryo Hatayama as Shintaro Midorima.
This adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s manga, which is titled Kuroko’s Basketball: The Encounter, is written and directed by Norihito Nakayshiki, who also penned another sports manga-based stage play in Hyper Projection Play Haikyū!!. It will run for 21 performances at the Sunshine Gekijō theatre in Ikebukuro from April 8th–24th, with ticket sales beginning on February 27th.
