News: Crunchyroll will simulcast Code Geass director’s latest series Active Raid

Crunchyroll has added another hot title to its list of winter simulcasts with Active Raid, a series led by Code Geass’ Goro Taniguchi as chief director, and counting among its stars Nobunaga Shimazaki (Parasyte -the maxim-’s Shinichi Izumi) as Takeru Keroki, and Ari Ozawa (Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun’s  Chiyo Sakura) as Asami Kazari.

Acting under Taniguchi as director is Noriaki Akitaya of Persona 3 The Movie #1 Spring of Birth, with Naruhisa Arakawa of Outbreak Company writing the scripts, and Asako Nishida of Love Live! designing the character animations based on Food Wars! creator Shun Saeki’s original designs. Kotaro Nakagawa, another member of the Code Geass team, joins to compose the music for the series. The synopsis is as follows:

Set in a futuristic Tokyo, Active Raid tells the story of “The Eighth,” a rash and careless unit of power-armored police called the “5th Special Public Security Section’s Mobile Assault Division.” After the Third Quicksand Disaster sinks Tokyo into a quagmire, the city’s reconstruction efforts are carried out using high-output, reinforced exoskeletons called Willwears. But they can also be misused, and to combat the rising number of crimes involving them, the National Police Agency establishes at its Kichioji Branch the Special Public Security Fifth Division Third Mobile Assault Eighth Unit, AKA Unit 8.

Despite being bound by all kinds of red tape, these youngsters (there are exceptions) take on criminals using their brains, bravery, and the gift of gab.

Permission granted! Move out!

Active Raid

Active Raid will be streaming through Crunchyroll worldwide outside of Asia starting January 7th from 10:30am EST, which is 3:30pm in UK time.
