Evangelion – The Shinji Ikari Raising Project manga ends next month

After over a decade’s run, Osamu Takahashi is bringing his Neon Genesis Evangelion – The Shinji Ikari Raising Project manga to a close next month. The final chapter of the 2005 spin-off from Gainax’s Shinji-raising game, where the player guides the young plugger through life, will be released on February 26th in the April issue of Monthly Shonen Ace.

The 17th collected volume of the manga was released in Japan on November 22nd, and Dark Horse will release volume 16 in the US on June 1st. The comic publishers describe the school-day dramas of Shinji and friends:

Stunning, hotheaded Asuka Langley Soryu has been friends with Shinji Ikari since they were little. And she always sort of assumed they’d stay together-until the day the beautiful, brilliant Rei Ayanami showed up in class! When Shinji starts to get curious about Rei, Asuka needs to figure out if she wants to be just friends with Shinji, or something more. But why are so many people keeping an eye on these relationships-people like homeroom teacher Misato, school nurse Ritsuko, and Shinji’s mother-NERV’s chief scientist, Yui Ikari…?
