After an eight year lull, the manga creators that make up the Akira Himekawa team have confirmed that they’ll be returning to their Legend of Zelda series this year. The duo’s new manga will be based on the game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, released by Nintendo for the GameCube and Wii in 2006. And as Himekawa announced with the teaser image below, it will be serialised on the Shogakukan app MangaONE.
The team’s last Zelda-related update came way back in July, when they announced their homecoming to the project and the original plan to debut in 2015. In the picture they posted, as shown below, Link is telling Himekawa’s fans:
“2015, after 7 years … The Legend of Zelda manga series returns! Please support it!”
“Which version of me can you meet this time? Look forward to finding out!!”
After the two artists last paid homage to the legend by drawing a prologue to the Skyward Sword game in 2011, they’ve updated their official website with news of their resolved return to the franchise. They also noted that Shogakukan will reveal more details about the manga’s debut at a later date. Not too much later, we’re hoping.
