The 10th Annual Seiyuu Awards have released an announcement revealing a few of the winners being recognised for their work in voice acting, so we can have a sneak preview of the talent which will be celebrated at the awards ceremony.
Sachiku Chijimatsu, who portrayed Combattler V’s Kosuke Kita and Nobita’s mother in Doraemon, is first in line for the Merit Award, which goes to seiyuu who have dedicated themselves to many genres over the years. Tadashi Nakamura, who dubbed Charlie in Charlie’s Angels, and Michiko Nomura who voiced Speed Racer’s Michi Shimura are also receiving this award.
The Synergy Award for demonstrating voice-acting to its fullest potential this year goes to the slice-of-life comedy anime Chibi Maruko-chan. And for notable performances across all media, the Kei Tomiyama Award goes to Showtaro Morikubo, known as Naruto Shippūden’s Shikamaru Nara, and the Kazue Takahashi Award goes to Kikuko Inoue, who voiced Kasumi Tendo in Ranma ½.
Finally, a Special award to recognise performers, works or acts which don’t fit within a specific category is being given to the idol unit AŌP, who have performed theme songs for Ace of Diamond and Osomatsu-san. They will join the announced and unannounced awardees to celebrate their achievements at the ceremony being held on March 12th.
