A junior college student lives alone with her black cat in the anime series Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko: Everything Flows, adapted from Makoto Shinkai’s She and Her Cat anime short. With Kana Hanazawa as the girl and Shintarō Asanuma as the cat, the series will premiere on Tokyo MX’s Ultra Super Anime Time on March 4th, and the first promo touches on the inspiring, gently warming presence a cat brings to a life come to a halt.
Kazuya Sakamoto of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya directs the series at LIDEN FILMS, the studio known for The Heroic Legend of Arslan, with Naruki Nagakawa of Ergo Proxy writing scripts. And joining on as chief animation director and character designer is Senbon Umishima of Gatchaman Crowds, who was also key animator for Maria the Virgin Witch.
The anime series itself, which will have background accompaniment by the opening theme performers TO-MAS SOUNDSIGHT FLUORESCENT FOREST, has gone on to inspire its own manga. The comic series began in the April issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine, illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi.
