News: Hai-Furi reveals two more voice actors for the Blue Mermaids

After casting Shiina Natsukawa, of Celestial Method and the VA group TrySail, as the forward-looking and big-hearted Akeno Misaki, the website for original anime Hai-Furi has announced two more cast. Joining the show created by K-ON! writer Reiko Yoshida and Non Non Biyori author Atto is Sora Miyami as  Akeno’s childhood friend Moeka China, the intelligent leader always encouraging her friend. And Lynn, who’s known for voicing Kuromukuro’s Rita, makes it a trio as Mashiro Munetani, a girl who loves fortune-telling and flounder sashimi, and whose favourite saying is “All misfortunes are just stepping stones to the future.”

Natsukawa’s cast confirmation began a full month’s run of daily updates on characters and their voice actors, for the story described as follows by the show’s official website:

“In the sea we live, the sea we protect, and by the sea we go … Blue Mermaids!”

Japan, 100 years after plate subductions caused many other countries to be submerged.

To save the remaining countries, the coastal cities that had been built up were launched into the seas, and the seaborne routes between them expanded. With this expansion, a need for personnel that could safeguard the seas arose.

Women began to seek employment in this new industry, and soon, the “Blue Mermaids,” those who keep the sea safe, began to be a source of admiration for many.

Director Yuu Nobuta of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 is leading on this series, announced as premiering on April 9th, at Production IMS of Active Raid and The Testament of Sister New Devil. Alongside Atto’s work as designer on over 30 original characters in collaboration with Yoshida, Naoto Nakamura of Sword Art Online II adapts the character designs for animation, with the Expelled from Paradise studio Graphinica producing filming and editing the CG. And the show’s original story creator was revealed to be Takaaki Suzuki, known for assisting on Strike Witches and Girls und Panzer as military advisor.
