Hideaki Sorachi left a note for the readers of his 63rd Gintama manga volume that the manga’s final arc is looming on the horizon for this year. He said himself that he’s not sure whether the manga itself will end this year or next, to quell the worries of many loyal readers when he mentioned at last year’s Jump Festa that the manga would come to its last arc in 2016, after twelve years since the series began.
Since 2004, Gintama has been a mainstay in the Oricon charts for top-selling manga, and with good reason. Its unique streak of quick-fire bizarre humour has brightened our days here at the blog, and likewise for fans worldwide. We’re sad to hear that its end is closing in, but we doubt this will be the last we’ll see of our futuristic samurai friends.
