For the 10th anniversary of Shusuke Kaneko’s live-action Death Note movies, Erika Toda will be reprising her screen debut role as Misa Amane from the two-part feature in the Death Note 2016 movie project. This was confirmed by the movie’s official Twitter, so she will be joining the cast alongside The Last Samurai’s Sōsuke Ikematsu as L’s successor Ryuzaki, the live-action Parasyte‘s Masahiro Higashide as Death Note Investigator Mishima, the live-action Assassination Classroom’s Masaki Suda as the Kira reverant Yuki Shion, and former AKB48 idol Rina Kawaei as the most terrible Death Note user Sakura Aoi.
In this new film, set ten years after the first, Misa has no memory of the Death Note after renouncing her ownership, and still holds her love for Light Yagami as she leads her life as an actress. This is the key to the world of the sequel, which conforms to the original manga’s rule that only six Death Notes can exist on Earth at any one time. This story, anchored in cyber-terrorism, is directed by the Gantz live-action’s Shinsuke Sato.
