Event: Studio Ghibli Forever brings Ghibli back to British cinemas

StudioCanal has announced a run of cinema screenings celebrating the plethora of treasured moments in Studio Ghibli’s movies, as perhaps their final feature When Marnie Was There comes to UK cinemas this June. Travelling across the country this spring, summer and into the fall, certain screenings have been doubled up (or even tripled in the case of Howl’s Moving Castle) to give you the best chance possible of catching your favourite Ghibli feature.

Glasgow Film Theatre will screen the following on the dates below:

Spirited Away – July 24th at 2:00pm and July 25th at 5:45pm
Princess Mononoke – August 2nd at 2.15 p.m and August 3rd at 5:45pm
Kiki’s Delivery Service – August 9th at 2:15pm and August 10th at 6:20pm
My Neighbor Totoro – August 16th at 2:45pm and August 17th at 6:30pm
Laputa: Castle in the Sky –August 23rd at 1:10pm and August 24th at 6:10pm
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind – August 30th at 1:00pm and August 31st at 6:00pm

Nausicaa of the Valley of the WindHome Manchester will screen:

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind – dubbed on August 9th and subbed on August 26th
Laputa: Castle in the Sky – subbed on August 13th and dubbed on August 22nd
My Neighbor Totoro – dubbed on August 15th and subbed on August 20th
Kiki’s Delivery Service – dubbed on August 18th and subbed on August 29th

The live-action Ghibli documentary film The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness will also screen on August 29th.

Sheffield Showroom will screen daily matinees of:

Spirited Away on the week commencing July 17th
Princess Mononoke on the week commencing July 24th
My Neighbor Totoro on the week commencing July 31st
Kiki’s Delivery Service on the week commencing August 7th
Laputa: Castle in the Sky on the week commencing August 14th
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind on the week commencing August 21st

Bristol Watershed will also screen daily matinees of:

Kiki’s Delivery Service on the week commencing August 14th
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind on the week commencing August 21st
Laputa: Castle in the Sky on the week commencing August 28th

Broadway Nottingham will screen:

Kiki’s Delivery Service – August 8th at 12:45pm
Laputa: Castle in the Sky – August 22nd at 12:30pm
My Neighbor Totoro (dubbed) – August 15th

  1. Good to see anime appear in UK cinemas. Dragonball’s popularity did prove there is an audience that wants to watch Japanese animation on big screens.
