Junya Inoue’s third manga volume of La Vie en Doll was released today bearing a hint of an important Btooom! announcement. Though the series’ 20th volume will reveal all, it hasn’t been specified whether the announcement pertains to the manga itself or not, so it could be that we’ll hear word of a second season of the anime after the volume’s published on May 9th.
The manga originally launched in Shinchosha’s Weekly Comic Bunch in 2009, before moving to Monthly Comic Bunch in 2011, has been in its final arc since April 2014. Published in English by Yen Press, they released the 13th volume on February 23rd, and the Kotone Watanabe-directed anime adaptation was streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan in 2012. The streaming service describes the anime’s story:
Sakamoto Ryota still has no job at age 22, and leads a rather dull life. But in the online game, BTOOOM!, he’s stronger and more highly respected than anyone else. However, the game he’s playing now is no longer virtual, but real. He’s been sent to a deserted island with only a BIM supply and no clue why he’s being coerced into fighting and killing. The players are now stuck in a real life version of BTOOOM!, not even knowing the reason why.
