Manga author Yoshikazu Ebisu, who has been seen flexing his voice acting muscles before now in his magical girl debut, is getting a big break amongst the cast of Bananya. He’ll play the narrator who has spent years researching the intriguing creature, in the series starring Q-Lia’s banana cat mascot character, and Ebisu has noted that since he’s owned a cat for many years himself, he feels that his narration will accurately reflect Bananya’s thoughts.
The anime is set to premiere this July, with Kyo Yatate of Sockie’s Frontier Quest directing at TMS Entertainment and Gathering. Stationery company Q-Lia have also launched their previously announced crowdfunding campaign to gather funds for the series. It kicked off on March 25th, and as of press time, it’s collected 318,000 yen of its three million yen goal. The campaign will end on June 22nd, giving plenty of time to hit its approx. £19,660 goal. In the meantime, any contributing fans can receive thank you gifts including mugs, charms, badges, body billows, listings in the credits and a mention on an episode card.
