Knights of Sidonia author releases a new sci-fi one-shot experiment

Tsutomu Nihei, the creator of the original Knights of Sidonia manga, has stepped into speculative sci-fi once more in his new one-shot Ningyo no Kuni (Country of the Dolls). The short and strange story appeared yesterday in the 23rd issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine seinen anthology.

This work marks Nihei’s first chapter for the magazine in the ten years since his cyberpunk action series BIOMEGA moved over to Shueisha’s Ultra Jump. On an ice planet strewn with the rusted artifacts of an alien race, Ningyo no Kuni sees a young man explore its wastelands, and have a fleeting yet fateful encounter.
