News: Kickstarter to publish full run of Kimagure Orange Road manga ends

Digital Manga Inc.’s Kickstarter campaign to fund an English digital edition of the Kimagure Orange Road manga ended yesterday, having raised a total of $154,097 from 938 backers. It overachieved by tens of thousands on the stretch goals put in place to publish all six 3-in-1 omnibus volumes, after their initial target of $34,900 was reached. The final volume’s marker stood at $119,900.

The campaign launched on March 31st, and Digital Manga Inc. now plans to re-translate, re-edit and re-letter Izumi Matsumoto’s classic romantic comedy series. It was originally serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1984-87, publishing 18 volumes in all and following a high-school kid with secret supernatural powers, as he juggled the quirk, his classes and a love triangle with two schoolmates.
