News: Orange anime showcases scenery and setting concept art

Little details of the anime based on Ichigo Takano’s sci-fi shojo manga Orange have been pieced together in the series’ promotion over the past few months, with the latest update being the full colour designs of most of the main characters aged 26. But with the background concept art now revealed on the official website, we can form a full picture of how the TMS-animated show will look as a final product.

The main reveal comes with the new key visual above, which displays in great detail a view of the Chikuma Bridge in Matsumoto, Nagano prefecture. But more images compare the Agata Forest park setting with its real-life basis, and show us the protagonist Naho’s bedroom.

The seemingly surefire summertime hit is directed by Steins;Gate’s Hiroshi Hamasaki at production studios TMS Entertainment and Telecom Animation Film. Scripts are written by Yuko Kakihara of Persona 4 the ANIMATION and character designs are all provided by Yuki of Kids on the Slope, and Seven Seas, who publish the manga in North America, describe the story as follows:

Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn’t take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter tells her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. But why? Naho must decide what to make of the letter and its cryptic warning, and what it means not only for her future, but for Kakeru’s as well.
