Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine announced on May 30th that InuYasha mangaka Rumiko Takahashi will be releasing her new one-shot in the magazine’s June 6th issue. ‘Konya, Kanojo ga Yattekuru’ (‘Tonight, She’s Coming’) will be her first stand-alone chapter for Weekly Big Comic Spirits in six years, and is being included in the magazine as part of its 35th anniversary celebrations. While no more details are available on the manga, its story is advertised as a “mystery-ish love comedy” and “love comedy-ish mystery”.
As for Takahashi’s other recent achievements, she’s in the running to be inducted into the Eisner Comic Awards Hall of Fame beside such acclaimed artists as Hayao Miyazaki. It’s her second nomination for the honour, and it would be well-deserved, as since she debuted while still a college student in 1978, she’s created many renowned manga including Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku and Rin-ne. The latter has been running in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2009, and the second anime adaptation of the series is currently airing on NHK-E.
