News: Your Lie in April side-story collection to be published in August

The July issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine, which hit shelves on Monday (June 6th), revealed that five Your Lie in April side-stories will be published as a collection on August 18th this year. The five one-shot chapters, written and illustrated by the original manga’s author Naoshi Arakawa, were originally bundled with the Japanese Blu-ray and DVD releases of the Your Lie in April anime, which premiered in October 2014.

The collection is titled Your Lie in April Coda, and will include the following stories:

‘Summer’s Twilight’ and ‘Summer Illusion’, which both recount the day of Kosei Arima’s first performance
‘Two Years Later’, which catches up with Nagi Aiza and Shun’ya Miike
‘Summer’s Vestiges’, an internal monologue for Kaori Miyazono
‘Secret Society KKE’, which sees Emi Egawa starting her college life

A live-action movie based on Arakawa’s manga will open in Japan on September 10th, starring Kento Yamazaki, known as L in the Death Note live-action series, and Suzu Hirose who played Chihaya in Chihayafuru: Shimo no Ku. The A-1 Pictures anime was streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan, and they summarise the story:

Kousei Arima was a genius pianist until his mother’s sudden death took away his ability to play. Each day was dull for Kousei. But, then he meets a violinist named Kaori Miyazono who has an eccentric playing style. His monotonous life was about to change forever.
