Warner Bros. Japan and Space Dandy studio BONES have released a new visual for this summer’s ONE anime adaptation, Mob Psycho 100. With its debut set for July 11th, this follow up to One Punch Man‘s smash success will be kickstarted by a new vocal unit named for the anime, MOB CHOIR. The band provide the opening theme ’99’, while ALL OFF perform the ending ‘Refrain Boy’ after previously giving Heavy Object its opening theme.
The show stars Setsuo Ito as Kageyama “Mob” Shigeo, an 8th grader who earned his nickname because he blends in with the crowd, never standing out. But this is his own choice. If he ever became too emotional – a severe risk of his psychic powers – his secret ability would backfire in explosive fashion. With Takahiro Sakurai co-starring as Mob’s quack psychic mentor, Reigen Arataka, their fellow cast have been confirmed as follows:
Akio Ohtsuka (Black Jack‘s Black Jack) as Ekubo
Miyu Irino (Haikyu!!‘s Koshi Sugawara)as Ritsu Kageyama
Yoshimasa Hosoya (Haikyu!!‘s Asahi Azumane) as Tenga Onigawara
Atsumi Tanezaki (Gangsta‘s Mikhail) as Tome Kurata
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online‘s Kirito) as Teruki Hanazawa
Ayumi Fujimura (Squid Girl‘s Eiko Aizawa) as Ichi Mezato
Uki Satake (Space Dandy‘s QT) as Tsubomi
Alongside a video preview unveiled in February, Yuzuru Tachikawa of Death Parade was announced as director, with Seraph of the End’s Hiroshi Seko writing scripts for the show. And while One Punch Man’s animator Yoshimichi Kaneda returns to ONE’s new project to work on character designs, the Ghost in the Shell composer Kenji Kawai is in charge of creating music.
