News: PR campaign to bolster popularity of underdog Pokémon

It’s no understatement to say that Simisear has an image problem. Coming dead last in the annual ‘Pokémon General Election 720’ could shatter the steeliest of egos and, despite adversity, a new promotional campaign is aiming to bolster the poor Fire Type’s tarnished image.

Call us cynical, but it might take more than bribing fans with “presents to raise the popularity from file of Simisear (known as ‘Baokkie’ in its native Japan). Nevertheless, the campaign kicks on June 25th and lasts until July 15th at Pokémon Centre across Japan.

A free download (for use with the Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire 3DS games) and a PR business card might swing it for a few optimistic few, but we don’t expect Simisear’s star to rise all that much.

I think the elemental monkeys are cool. I’m surprised this guy ended below stuff like the key ring and the ice cream cone.
