News: Ghost in the Shell ARISE manga ends

On Monday (June 20th), Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine published the last chapter of the Ghost in the Shell ARISE manga, ~Nemuranai Me no Otoko: Sleepless Eye~. The series launched in March 2013, drawn by Takumi Oyama, and written by Jun’ichi Fujisaku who wrote the screenplays for both seasons of Stand Alone Complex. The magazine asked readers to await the creators’ next works, and in the meantime, the manga’s seventh volume will be published on August 5th.

The Ghost in the Shell ARISE anime, pieced together in four 50-minute parts referred to as “borders”, premiered in Japanese cinemas between June 2013 and August 2014. The following year, the series had its TV premiere in April under the title Ghost in the Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture. It was then released on DVD and Blu-ray and distributed internationally, and you can read our review of the eerily relatable third and fourth borders here.
