News: Latest Food Wars! season two trailer previews Autumn Election and theme songs

A new promo trailer has arrived for Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Second Plate, steaming hot from the oven at Warner Brothers Anime. Framing an Autumn Elections face-off, the video features the opening theme song ‘ROUGH DIAMONDS’ by SCREEN mode, followed by the ending theme, now named as ‘Snow Drop’, by nano.RIPE.

SCREEN mode also recently posted a short music video, setting the single release of ‘ROUGH DIAMONDS’ for July 27th.

With the airing of the second series, starting July 2nd, we’ll meet a new character who’s intimidating in both his physique and methods as a chef. Voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto, otherwise known as Chad in Bleach, Subaru Mimasaka was given his character design previews as we reported earlier this month.

Based on the manga written by Yuto Tsukada and illustrated by Shun Saeki, the new season picks up where the first left off, following the returning cast of Soma and friends as they enjoy a short holiday before the Autumn Election. Yoshitomo Yonetani of Gaogaigar is directing the series at J.C.Staff, with Shogo Yasukawa of Hyperdimension Neptunia on scripts, and Tomoyuki Shitaya of Bakuman designing the characters. Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club’s Tatsuya Katou is composing the music, and Jin Aketagawa joins as sound director.
