Bandai Channel’s YouTube has begun streaming a Love Live! Sunshine!! trailer which reveals in the video’s description that the anime will launch worldwide in July. We’ve known since May that the series would be premiering in Japan from July 2nd, but the anime’s English website also confirms that it will “launch worldwide simultaneously” on that day, with more info promised to be posted at a later date.
This video is the same that appeared on the anime’s website on Saturday, in which the Aqours girls are inspired by μ’s when their school is put in a similar predicament as the now famed Otonokizaka Academy. Two ads of 15 and 30-second length were also posted that day, announcing the series premiere’s TV scheduling.
Love Live! Sunshine!! is directed by Love Live! School idol project‘s Kazuo Sakai at Sunrise, with Jukki Hanada returning from all previous Love Live! anime on series composition. Yuhei Murota also returns to design the characters, and Tatsuya Katou of Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club and Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma composes the music at Lantis.
The seaside spin-off from Love Live! was first announced in February last year, and it keeps with the fan participation theme of the original project, which let viewers vote on the fate of the idols. The new group’s name Aqours was voted for by fans, picked from the submitted ideas of Dengeki G’s Magazine readers, with 4,644 votes out of the total of 23,789 made between June 1st-11th 2015.
Update: Following up on the announcement from Love Live! Sunshine!!‘s Japanese and English websites that the anime will air worldwide from July 2nd, the Bandai Channel have posted an English-subtitled version of the original Japanese trailer which bore the news.
FUNimation, who will stream the show though, sadly, not to the UK, give the new school idol story the following description:
Nothing is more appealing than the bright, sparkling world of School Idols! The girls of Uranohoshi Girls’ High School are swept into idol fever, wanting nothing more than to become the next-best School Idol group. And they plan to do just that. Chika Takami brings together eight of her classmates to form Aqours, their own idol group. As long as they don’t give up, any dream can come true!
