News: Japanese viewers pick their “Splendid Spring Anime”

Summertime is here, the sun shining on the new anime season, and Japanese site Anime! Anime! have announced the results of their poll looking back on the blooms of spring 2016. They asked the fans in Japan which of all of this year’s spring series could be described as “splendid” or “magnificent”, and the top ten list for “Splendid Spring Anime” came back as below.

10. Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto

9. High School Fleet

8. Macross Δ (Macross Delta)

7. Joker Game

6. Assassination Classroom (Season 2)

5. Flying Witch

4. My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia

3. Bungo Stray Dogs

2. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

1. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

Around 820 people cast their votes in the poll, which ran from June 27th to July 3rd, and the teenage demographic took the majority with 40% of the vote. Personally, we would have liked to see Tanaka-kun take a place on the list, but perhaps it was just too much effort for him. Still, we’re happy to see Flying Witch up there in the top five, and Re:ZERO is one of our favourites too, in part for its individual view of regret. Which series were the most splendid for you this spring?

  1. I’d have had to have picked Assassination Classroom or My Hero Academia. Though, now that Assassination Classroom is finishined, I kind of think it is up there with my all time favourite anime. I’ll wait a few months and rewatch to see if it loses some of its charm the second time through.
    Thanks for sharing your list.
