On Saturday (July 9th), Kadokawa’s Newtype magazine revealed that the One Piece anime will return to Eiichiro Oda’s manga material with the Zou arc on Sunday, July 31st. The show will not air on July 24th, and instead the 751st episode will follow the July 14th conclusion of the current anime-original Silver Mine arc. This arc, and the two-hour One Piece: Heart of Gold TV special, are tie-ins to the story of One Piece Film Gold, which opens in Japan on July 23rd.
In more One Piece news, towards the end of last week, Toei released a 30-second commercial for Film Gold, titled ‘Battle Version’. This TV spot followed another called ‘Entertainment Version’ released to introduce the insert song ‘GOLD & JIVE ~SILVER OCEAN’, performed by Carina’s voice actor Hikari Mitsushima, and Gild Tesoro’s voice actor Kazuhiro Yamaji as their respective characters.
One Piece Film Gold will be showing at a record of 743 screens across Japan, and the country wants tourists to get in on the fun, so selected cinemas in five cities will show the film with English and Chinese subtitles right from its opening day. A full-length trailer for the film featuring GLIM SPANKY’S theme song was released in May.
