Yesterday’s (July 13th) issue of Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine published the final chapter of Kazune Kawahara and Aruko’s My Love Story!! (Ore Monogatari!!) manga. As the monthly shojo manga mag announced in its July issue, published on June 13th, the chapter ran extra long at 100 pages to celebrate. In addition, the issue included comments from Ryohei Suzuki, who played the live-action Ore Monogatari!! film’s Takeo Goda, and from the 2015 anime’s cast members Takuya Eguchi, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Megumi Han, who voiced Takeo Goda, Makoto Sunakawa, and Rinko Yamato respectively. It was also confirmed that the manga’s 13th and final volume will be published in Japan in September of this year.
Bessatsu Margaret editor-in-chief Takaaki Imai revealed in January that the series was approaching its pinnacle, after Kawahara first launched the story’s original 100-page version in Bessatsu Margaret Sister in October 2011, then brought it to Bessatsu Margaret as a serialised manga in April 2012. The series went on to win Best Shojo Manga at the 37th Kodansha Manga Awards the following year. Shueisha published the 12th compiled volume on May 25th, and VIZ Media, who publish the manga under their Shojo Beat imprint, summarise its story as follows:
Takeo Goda is a giant guy with a giant heart. Too bad the girls don’t want him! (They want his good-looking best friend, Sunakawa.) Used to being on the sidelines, Takeo simply stands tall and accepts his fate. But one day when he saves a girl named Yamato from a harasser on the train, his (love!) life suddenly takes an incredible turn.
