In this week’s issue 35 of Shonen Jump came the inaugural chapter of Yakusoku no Neverland by writer Kaiu Shirai and artist Posuka Demizu, whose Twitter art is enchanting enough on its own. At the same time, VIZ Media’s English edition of the magazine’s August 1st issue ran the first chapter of Yakusoku no Neverland, known in English as The Promised Neverland, as part of the magazine’s Jump Start initiative. Viz will publish the first three chapters of Shirai and Demizu’s manga as it’s published, and now it’s been announced they will also run previews of two more upcoming series, Ryohei Yamamoto’s Love Rush! and Tomohiro Yagi’s Red Sprite.
In issue 38, to be released on August 22nd, we’ll be seeing Yamamoto of E-Robot begin serialisation of Love Rush!. Then in issue 39, to be released on August 29th, Iron Knight‘s Yagi will begin the story of Red Sprite. As with their Jump Start of Yakusoku no Neverland, Viz will publish the first three chapters of both manga series as they’re published in the Japanese Shonen Jump magazine.
Ahead of their English printing of chapter 1, Viz gave The Promised Neverland the following summary:
Emma and her friends have a pretty good life at the orphanage they grew up in. Though the rules may be strict, the caretaker is kind. But why are the children forbidden from ever leaving…?
