Update: Spice & Wolf’s two fall volumes show cover art previews, new look at Myuri

Back in April, Isuna Hasekura and Ju Ayakura’s Spice & Wolf novels celebrated their 10th anniversary with a new story called ‘Spring Log’ in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko Magazine. Set ten years after the original series’ happy ending, Lawrence has opened a bathhouse in Nyohira’s hot springs, and plays host to two travellers who want to relax after a long journey. And now, this new volume in the economics informed fantasy tale has been scheduled for a fall release from Dengeki.

The XVIII Spring Log collection will be released in Japan on September 10th, and on the same day, another new novella is slated for publication. Spice & Wolf New Theory: Wolf & Parchment will tell a second after-story, this time centred on Lawrence and Holo’s daughter, Myuri. An early look at the art for Wolf & Parchment gave us our first glimpse of the series’ new heroine, and a new update shows us the cover illustrations for both volumes.

Yen Press ended their English-language run of Spice & Wolf with the 17th and final volume on April 19th, and they describe the epilogue of Lawrence and Holo’s journey as follows:

Several years have passed since the incidents surrounding the Coin of the Sun. Having received a letter from Holo, Norah the former shepherdess and Eve the merchant woman travel north–and on the way, they end up in the same wagon as Diana the alchemist! Were Lawrence and Holo able to find happiness for themselves? In addition to an epilogue covering the days immediately after the events of Volume 16, this final book in the Spice and Wolf series includes three new short stories!

Now that the books are done I wish they would animate more episodes. Glad to hear that the characters found happiness in the end.
