Calling all ani-bloggers – my favourite anime
If you’re anything like me, than you’ll obsess over lists and forensically dissect the ins and outs of your favourite anime. Having a definitive favourite is in itself somewhat miraculous, and I often struggle with my own top ten, nevermind what holds the top spot. One month I’ll be convinced Cowboy Bebop is my one and only, while another it might get usurped by Ergo Proxy. More recently, I’ve been captivated by Beck.
But there are consistencies, series that define and demonstrate exactly what it is about anime we adore, sometimes irrespective of our enjoyment. Okay, so I love Serial Experiments Lain, a series which is, admittedly, a hard sell. I appreciate its stark, simple visuals, otherworldly sound design and, above all, its thematic exploration of identity and technology. Yet despite that, it’s not a series I’ll return to and watch over and over the way I might with, say, Tsuritama.
So, with all that in mind I want to know what your favourite anime is and why. If you struggle with picking a single favourite, then feel free to list a few below, but if you have a series you want to shout about, then we want to hear from you.
Any interested ani-bloggers should get in touch via littleanimeblog@outlook.com with a brief outline of their favourite anime and a few reasons why. We’ll add you as a writer to our site and after you submit a few hundred words, we’ll publish your piece with any images you want or (if you’re feeling brave) leave it up to us. This will be an ongoing fixture for the site, so there’s no rush.
I don’t know about you, but I’m excited about seeing how many of us have the same favourites.
This is something to contemplate…

Well, I guess I’d have to say RWBY because of it’s amazing showing of general growth and it’s set-up for a long and potentially great storytelling. Also, it’s improvement on animation every season. I could go on but I think I’ve said enough. ^.^

What an awesome idea. It’s gonna be hard me to pick a favourite, but I’m looking forward to going back over what I’ve watched so far and choosing one or a few:P

LOL I actually have quite a few. I posted my top favorites on my friends blog as an introductory post since he added me as an author to his blog…but picking a single favorite will be really tough!!

Ha, your avatar was a bit of a clue. There’s nothing with arbitrary, so long as your passionate. As a fan of Code Geass myself, I’d love to read your reasons.

Oh man, I’ve got so much to say about Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood! With a few days time, I can write a piece that explains why this anime is so deeply rooted in my heart! Fantastic idea!

I’d need to be in my room, alone and drinking coffee. This needs a couple of silent moments.

Thanks for the follow. I’ve been meaning to get a little more involved in the ani-blogging community, and this looks like an interesting way to start that journey. I’m actually intrigued by your mention of Serial Experiments Lain. I’ve always been a fan of Shojiro Abe’s treatment of Macabre and surrealism, and I understand exactly what you mean when you say a favorite doesn’t necessarily mean something you’ll go back to over and over again. It’s kinda like unagi. Too rich to have all the time.
So yeah, gotta think this one through…

I’m pretty new to the blogging scene, but this is definitely something to think about! Everyone has a favourite (or at least a few favourite) anime, and I think it’s really interesting to see why people love their favourite so much. If I can pick a number one (I’ve been agonising over what I could even include in a top 10 anime list, favourites are so hard) and articulate why, I’ll definitely get back to you.

Welcome aboard!
We think so too, and knowing why someone loves a show really gives you an insight into that person.
I hope you can pick a favourite, we’d love to hear back from you 🙂

Thank you so much for the follow, it means a lot to me. I already have a top 5 anime list that I’ve created, so the explanation is already done, I’d just need to tweak it a bit. I don’t know if I’d use just my number one or my top 3, which would be Soul Eater, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Ouran High School Host Club
