Our first look at the live-action Ghost in the Shell in motion has arrived. Paramount have taken a singular approach to the movie trailer malarkey and released five tiny teasers, in which the Major, played by Scarlett Johansson, interacts with her fellow androids and humanity. To make things easier, here’s the playlist of all five clips in succession:

The film is planned for American release on March 31st, 2017. We saw the first still of Johansson as the Major in spring, then she and Pilou Asbæk, who co-stars as Batou, were snapped on set in June.

Paramount and DreamWorks backed up their first image of Johansson in her lead role with a new synopsis which referred to her for the first time as “the Major”:

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, Ghost in the Shell follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Directed by Snow White and the Huntsman’s Rupert Sanders, producer Avi Arad is working beside Steven Paul, with Michael Costigan, Jeffrey Silver, Tetsu Fujimura and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa executive producing.
