Event: Red Turtle trailer released ahead of screening at BFI Film Festival with Shinkai’s your name.

Having announced that they’ve obtained UK theatrical and home release rights to Makoto Shinkai’s new film your name, Anime Limited have entered the film into this year’s BFI London Film Festival. This marks a historic entry for the festival, which has never before admitted a Japanese animated film into competition in all its 60 years running.

The film will therefore be screened at the following times and locations as part of the film festival’s programme:

Friday October 14th, 6:00pm – Embankment Garden Cinema

Saturday October 15th, 12:00pm – Embankment Garden Cinema

Sunday October 16th, 6:15pm – Ritzy Cinema, Screen 2

Aside from the Ritzy, which has sold out, tickets for the above screenings are now available from the BFI website.

Shinkai himself will be present at the festival, which will also be screening the Cannes Festival award-winning film The Red Turtle. Dutch director Michaël Dudok de Wit says the Studio Ghibli co-produced film “shows a deep respect for nature, including human nature, and conveys a sense of peace and awe at the immensity of life”.

Ahead of this event, IMDb has released an exclusive English trailer for The Red Turtle.
