Power up your Auras, RWBY Volume 4 is right on the horizon. Ahead of the series’ premiere on October 22nd, Rooster Teeth have posted a character short to get us in the mood for returning to a broken Beacon. In the short, as RT describe it, “It’s been several months since the Fall of Beacon, and the world of Remnant is still recovering. Tensions are high, lives have been lost, and the members of Team RWBY… are divided. Each of our heroines now faces a journey of their own.”
Just before that, Japan will get their dubbed volume 2, then in December, volume 3 will screen theatrically across the country. A new trailer gives us a listen to the Japanese voices for the third part, with Saori Hayami back as Ruby Rose, Yoko Hikasa as Weiss Schnee, Yu Shimamura as Blake Belladonna, and Ami Koshimizu as Yang Xiao Long.
On top of that, even more big anime names are joining the cast for volume 3. Ayako Kawasumi (known as Fate/stay night‘s Saber) voices Winter Schnee. One of our favourites, Qrow Branwen, is voiced by Hiroaki Hirata (none other than One Piece‘s Sanji). Kenyu Horiuchi (Naruto Shippuden‘s Pain and Tobirama) is Taiyang Xiao Long, and Kikuko Inoue (Code Geass‘ Cecile) is Salem. Shizuka Ito, who’s recently voiced Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya‘s Luviagelita Edelfelt, also takes over as Pyrrha Nikos while her usual seiyu, Megumi Toyoguchi, is on maternity leave.
As for the future of RWBY in the west, Animatsu are collecting the first three volumes in a limited edition Steelbook coming to the UK in November. And Viz Media are collaborating with Rooster Teeth on a range of books for global release, starting with a RWBY manga planned for 2017.
