At last Naruto and Sasuke kicked the passive aggressive act, thrashing out all their frustrations in the double-sized episode ‘Final Battle’. As of Naruto Shippuden‘s October 6th episode ‘Unison Sign’, it had covered 698 chapters of Masashi Kishimoto’s 700-chapter manga. And then, finally, we reached the end of Naruto’s story with the anime’s episode 479 (or 699 if you include the episode count of the original Naruto anime).
The series’ staff have all been wishing Naruto farewell, but for the fans, his journey isn’t quite over yet. Shonen Jump magazine announced Shippuden‘s new arc on Monday, one that returns to his childhood days when the Nine-Tails was still sealed away. The arc is titled ‘Shounen Jidai-hen’ (‘Boyhood Arc’), and began on October 20th with episode 480, focused on Naruto and Hinata. Now though, the characters taking their turns to look back over the next three weeks have been revealed:
Episode 481 on October 27th – Sasuke and Sakura
Episode 482 on November 3rd – Gaara and Shikamaru
Episode 483 on November 10th – Jiraiya and Kakashi
This coming winter, the anime will adapt three of the Hiden / Shinden epilogue novels: Konoha Hiden: The Perfect Day for a Wedding; Shikamaru Hiden: A Cloud Drifting in Silent Darkness, and finally Sasuke Shinden: Book of Sunrise. In the meantime, there will be new themes for the main Shippuden storyline, including Anly’s opening ‘Kara no Kokoro’, and Ayumikurikamaki’s ‘Departure Song’ on the ending.
