Update: Teaser heralds return to KonoSuba for second season

The official website for the anime adaptation of KonoSuba – God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!! revealed in June that the show’s second season would begin in 2017. Now, the site has been updated with a visual and teaser, bringing us back to that wonderful world and its characters.

More details have also arrived, announcing that the new season will premiere on January 11th. Machico will return for the opening theme, while Sora Amamiya who voices Aqua, Rie Takahashi who voices Megumin, and Ai Kayano who voices Darkness will sing the show’s new ending theme.

The 2016 anime based on the light novels by Jitakukeibihei (a.k.a. Natsume Akatsuki), produced by Fruits Basket and Fate/stay night‘s Studio DEEN, premiered in January and ran for 10 episodes. Akatsuki launched the first KonoSuba light novel in 2013, with illustrations by The Devil is a Part Timer! High School! manga’s Kurone Mishima. Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired, and gave it the following description:

After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…
