Lately, World Trigger author Daisuke Ashihara has been taking several short breaks from his 2013 ongoing manga, due to bouts of sudden illness. Back in September 2014, he took one such break to treat his cervical spondylosis (wear and tear on the neck area of the spinal column), and it was this condition that sparked off his recurring illness. It’s obvious he needs a long-term rest, and so Weekly Shonen Jump will announce on Monday that World Trigger is going on indefinite hiatus.
The manga won’t be appearing in this Monday’s issue, nor will it run in the magazine’s November 28th issue. Editorial staff added that the series will be on hiatus “for a while”, and that when a return date is decided they will announce it in a future issue.
This past Monday, Shonen Jump notified readers that Ashihara’s manga didn’t appear in the latest issue because he was suffering from another onset of sudden illness. At the time, the staff said that the series would resume in next week’s 51st issue. But for fans, the artist’s wellbeing is surely the biggest concern. We wish Ashihara a good rest, and good health.
