Next year, a team of Z-Warriors will fight for the survival of their universe as they know it in Dragon Ball Super. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, Android 17, Android 18, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Master Roshi and Majin Buu, Universe 7’s most powerful, will meet the challenge of the Power Tournament in the Universe Survival arc, set to begin on February 5th.
A new promo for the arc was revealed at Jump Festa and later posted on the official Dragon Ball Super website. Building up the tension with a look back over previous sagas, the promo ends with a tantalising preview of the new arc and its opening theme.
The new theme marks Kiyoshi Hikawa’s first anisong performance. Yukinojo Mori, a regular in Dragon Ball Z movie themes who also wrote Super‘s opening, wrote the lyrics for this number ‘Genkai Toppa x Survivor’ (‘Limit Breakthrough x Survivor’). DBZ Kai‘s theme composer Takafumi Iwasaki also returned for this theme.
At Goku’s request, the Omni-Kings’ “Tournament of Power” martial arts tournament between universes now begins! …But this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished…?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out…?!
Earlier this month, FUNimation revealed their dub cast for Dragon Ball Super. FunimationNow was the latest to join Crunchyroll, Daisuki and Anime Lab in streaming the series. Having added episodes 1-10 and the full Future Trunks arc with English subtitles, the simulcast began on November 5th. The episodes in between (11-46) were to be made available once subtitling had been completed.
While we in the UK can’t view the show on FunimationNow as per the limits of their partnership with Toei Animation, Daisuki are streaming it across much of Europe, including Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland.
