A new, extended Ghost in the Shell trailer has arrived, with more gun-blasting and glass-smashing action, more bright lights of the big city, and more Beat Takeshi as Section 9 Chief Aramaki. We also get our first real look at Michael Pitt as The Laughing Man. His performance is perhaps the aspect we’re most excited for now, so go ahead, give it a watch and see what you think.

For more of the Major kicking ass, you can also check out the ‘Big Game Spot’ from earlier this month. This promo was aired during Super Bowl LI, and showcases our heroine’s fights.

Ghost in the Shell is slated to open on March 31st, directed by Rupert Sanders of Snow White and the Huntsman. The Lucy duo of Scarlett Johansson and Pilou Asbæk star as the Major and Batou, respectively. Last spring, Paramount and DreamWorks backed up a still of Johansson in her lead role with a synopsis which referred to her for the first time as “the Major”:

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, Ghost in the Shell follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

I loved the two previous trailers for the movie, but this is the first trailer that I did not enjoy as much as the previous ones. Perhaps it’s the music but something that I can’t quite put my finger on was different in this trailer. Still, I am excited to see this one. The whole just looks very cool, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a good and enjoyable film 😊
