A man was arrested on Monday on the charge of forcible obstruction of business, after allegedly posting death threats against singer and voice actor Nana Mizuki on Twitter. Akihiro Fukushima, a 32-year-old part-time worker from Nagahama City, reportedly admitted his offence to officers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. According to their investigation, he said “I emailed Mizuki to say, ‘I want to meet you,’ but got no response, so I did this out of spite”.
There were police reports that the suspect wrote to Mizuki’s Twitter account on February 2nd, “I’ve got no choice but to kill Nana Mizuki,” along with other threatening messages. Police are now charging him with interfering with the business activities of the company that runs her official fan club, S.C. NANA NET, after Mizuki’s representatives filed a complaint the same day they received the alleged threats.
Mizuki, known for voicing Naruto and Naruo Shippuden‘s Hinata Hyuga, is currently travelling around Japan on her Live Zipangu 2017 tour. The tour will visit eight cities for a total of 14 concerts, and she just held two sold-out dates in Sapporo City, Hokkaido. Her next is scheduled for February 25th in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, with Mizuki’s agency hiring extra security at all events. On behalf of the blog, we wish her well on her tour, and hope she stays safe.
