In November, it was announced that two beautiful yuri titles are in the spotlight for anime adaptations this year. First, there’s Saburouta’s sweet and sour citrus. Then, there’s the secrets and scandal of Naoko Kodama’s NTR: Netsuzou Trap. Both series are from Ichijinsha’s manga anthology Comic Yuri Hime, which launched citrus in January 2013 and NTR in November 2014.
The latest news for Netsuzou Trap reveals that the anime will premiere in July, a specific date still to be confirmed.
While the boys of NTR got the first cast confirmations with the show’s reveal, Daisuke Ono (a.k.a. Black Butler‘s Sebastian) voicing Hotaru’s boyfriend Fujiwara, and Ryota Oosaka, (Gatchaman Crowds‘ Sugane) as Yuma’s boyfriend Takeda, the girls have since been given their voices. Yuma is portrayed by Ai Kakuma, previously Monster Musume‘s Lala, while her best friend Hotaru is voiced by Hiromi Igarashi, or High School Fleet‘s Wilhelmina Braunschweig Ingelner Friedeburg.
These four main cast now have their own key visual (as shown above), unveiled alongside the anime’s main staff members. Creators in Pack Inc. of OZMAFIA!! and Ojisan to Marshmallow are heading up production, with Hisayoshi Hirasawa on board as director. Hirasawa returns to the company after directing Kiitaro’s yokai picture diary and Miss Bernard said, while Kiznaiver episode director Masaru Kawashima handles character designs.
The anime’s official website teases the text “We have a secret we can’t tell our boyfriends”. Seven Seas publish the Netsuzou Trap manga in English, and give the story the following summary:
Yuma and Hotaru have been friends since childhood. It is only natural that when Yuma is nervous about her new boyfriend, she asks Hotaru along with her boyfriend for a double date. But when Hotaru offers herself to Yuma as “practice,” both girls realize that they’re more interested in each other than they are in their own boyfriends.
With boyfriends in the foreground but a secret, passionate tryst in the background, will Yuma and Hotaru try to forget what happened between them or have they fallen into a trap of true love and betrayal?
In the meantime, there are no more details available for the citrus anime, but Seven Seas also give the manga the following summary:
Yuzuko Aihara, a high school girl whose main interests are fashion, friends, and having fun, is about to get a reality check. Due to her mom’s remarriage, Yuzu has transferred to a new all-girls school that is extremely strict. Her real education is about to begin.
From day one, happy-go-lucky Yuzu makes enemies, namely the beautiful yet stern Student Council President Mei. So what happens when a dejected Yuzu returns home and discovers the shock of her life: that Mei is actually her new stepsister who has come to live with her? Even more surprising, when Mei catches Yuzu off guard and kisses her out of the blue, what does it all mean?
