Fellow Brits and friends in Ireland, you can now book your tickets for Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale. With preview screenings taking place on April 19th, followed by further screenings from April 21st, Anime Limited have announced that the movie will screen at Showcase Cinemas, PictureHouse, ODEON, VUE and Cineworld, along with some independent cinemas.
The distributors added that all showings will be in Japanese with English subtitles, and screening the uncensored version of the film. They stated, “We are aware that an English language dub was announced recently, however we are not able to gain access to this in time for our screenings in April. We are investigating whether it may be possible to screen the English dub at a later date, but we have no confirmation on if that will actually be possible or not.”
Aniplex gave their own description of the movie’s plot, which takes place after the anime series’ Mother’s Rosario arc, as follows:
In 2026, two years since the SAO incident, a new game called “Ordinal Scale,” an Augmented-Reality MMO, is becoming popular among the players. But…strange things are happening in the game and Kirito and the gang are facing a new danger.
