May 6th premiere and returning cast all in place, Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry unveiled its second trailer last week. And what with Madman bringing the film to Australia and New Zealand sometime soon, they’ve posted an English-subbed version of this trailer, just as they did for the first. In the video, we discover the story of the Dragon’s Tomb. Long ago, defeated dragon laid themselves to rest in this sacred place. And what is any tomb without an ancient treasure, or curse? Dragon Cry, the pure fury of the dragon, holds the power to destroy the world if it’s ever released.
The film’s original cast was announced following the new characters’ introductions as Sonya, aide to King Animus; Zash, the Stella Kingdom’s minister of state; and King Animus, ruler of Stella Kingdom. These roles will be voiced by:
Aoi Yuki (Puella Magi Madoka Magica‘s Madoka) as Sonya
Jio Saito as Zash Caine
Makoto Furukawa (One Punch Man‘s Saitama) as King Animus
As for the main staff, Tatsuma Minamikawa, an episode director on Attack on Titan and GATE, will be stepping up for the A-1 Pictures production as director. Series regular Shoji Yonemura is back to write the screenplay, with Yasuharu Takanashi composing music. In the meantime, Yuko Yamada of Persona 3 the Movie will be in charge of character designs. Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima takes his place on the staff as executive producer, after drawing almost 200 pages of storyboards for the film. Now that’s dedication.
