Dear friends and readers, our hiatus has at last drawn to a close. And now we’re back to bring you all the latest anime news, reviews, critical discourse, lists, silliness and plenty of poetry.
But that’s not all. We’re expanding our focus to cover gaming, too. While this will include news and features at first, you can expect to be treated to reviews, both classic and current. Recently I’ve been obsessed with Pokémon Ultra Sun, while Elisabeth has been playing through Ocarina of Time for what seems like the millionth time.
Okay, so why have we been absent for the better part of the year? Well, without giving too many details away for fear of jinxing things, I teamed up with an indie filmmaker to adapt his movie script into a novel. Unfortunately, I just didn’t have enough waking hours to hold down my day job, write a novel and tend to the blog. So we came to the mutual decision to go on hiatus until the book was finished. Though I jumped that hurdle, and have some amazing feedback from the publishers, personal tragedy stopped us from returning sooner.
We think of our readers and fellow bloggers as friends, so we always want to be open and honest. Still, it’s not easy to say that Elisabeth’s mum passed away a month ago, and so we’ve both been living under a storm cloud of late. But the dark clouds are clearing, the funeral providing that crucial catharsis, and new life is arriving.
Yes, Elisabeth touched on her pregnancy in her Made in Abyss piece, but just to reiterate WE’RE GOING TO BE PARENTS!!! That still takes some getting used to. The due date is March 4th and the little girl (yes, it’s a girl!) is already a kicker. And a puncher. Oh, and she’s rather fond of head-butting too. Don’t worry, she’ll be raised an anime fan and we’ve already got a Catbus plushie set aside.
Both of us have missed interacting with the vibrant ani-blogging community, sharing our thoughts and views and just enjoying this wonderful animated art form. It’s been too long, but now we’re here to stay. So, with that in mind, anything you want to see from us in the future? Hit us up with your otaku-type thoughts and ideas for pieces, poems or our blog’s expansion. The sky’s the limit, and we have all the time in the world.
I bought a new car this year. They let me choose my own number plate. Three guesses why I picked this one (excuse the dirt).
