Game of the Year award goes to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Let’s raise our Deku sticks in salute to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, by far the runaway winner at this year’s Game Awards. The event held last night named the flagship Nintendo Switch release not only as Game of the Year, but also Best Action/Adventure Game, throwing in the Best Game Direction award for good measure.

Super Mario Odyssey was the other main contender for The Game Awards’ top title, still swiping Best Family Game as consolation. NieR: Automata won Best Score/Music, and Resident Evil slayed the Best VR/AR Game category. There’s extra good news for all you Persona devotees out there too – the Phantom Thieves of Persona 5 got away with the Best Role Playing Game title.

How are you children of the forest celebrating Link’s success? Perhaps with the Champions’ Ballad DLC that got announced during festivities? Because the sooner you complete The Divine Beast Tamer’s trials, the sooner Link gets his Master Cycle Zero. Link on a motorbike. Man, what a time to be an adventurer.

  1. I’m pretty sure we all expected this. Still, from everything I’ve seen of this game, it probably deserved it.

  2. I continue to say persona 5 should be game of the year, but let’s face it… It’s more of an emotional reason than logical xD
