We’re just about ready for the holidays, but that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down here. It was another busy week as usual at littleanimeblog HQ, chatting Alita’s eyes and our lingering love of Recovery of an MMO Junkie. Want to take a peek at the best bits? Go right ahead – read on!

Blog spotlights

Here’s where we wrap up the posts we’re proud of from this week, just for you! Let’s see what we’ve got…

Afflicted escapists: MMO Junkie, mental health and identity

We shouldn’t be inciting fear around gaming when, for some, it’s their only healthy social outlet. Recovery of an MMO Junkie made an excellent case for this argument.

High riders: our favourite anime bikers

There’s no better feeling than barrelling through the elements on your hog. This list honours the characters who best capture that thrill.

Cool stuff from around the we(e)b

It’s time to take a look back over a few of the internet’s finest fist-pump moments and bulletins from this week. What made you smile or brightened your day? Tell us your own cool moments!

Launch of Innominate – a phenomenal new podcast

Before we say anything else, we want to bring your attention to a podcast that just launched featuring a few friends from our blogging circle. In the first episode of the Innominate Anime Podcast, Shoujo, Scott, Leth, Irina and Zel have a thought-provoking discussion of their favourite anime from this year. Remy Fool was sadly absent from this one, but hopefully we’ll hear from him very soon. We loved listening to your intelligent opinions and beautiful voices, so keep it up guys!

Geeky Easter Eggs abound in Ready Player One trailer

Did you catch the new trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One? It’s a glowing and gorgeous sci-fi haven, and it has the original RX-78-2 Gundam. And Street Fighter’s Chun-Li, and Kaneda’s killer Akira wheels. And…Tracer? What’s she doing in the middle of all that 80s worship? Whatever, I’ll just keep fangirling over that use of Depeche Mode while you guys see if you can spot them all.

Osaka’s new Dragon Ball café has class

We’re used to envying all the pop-up cafés that open in Japan, but this latest Dragon Ball Café and Diner is an altogether more elegant affair. Osaka’s Chinese restaurant Tokokuro will serve up your seven Dragon Balls in gourmet deliciousness, while you appreciate gorgeous ink artworks and ponder which piece of special merch to take home.

First English Fate/Grand Order webcast incoming

Where our fellow Fate fanatics at? Because you’ll want to check this out. Aniplex of America are streaming the first English Fate/Grand Order webcast, affectionately known as the ‘Chaldea Broadcasting Station U.S. Branch, Fourth Singularity Pre-release Special’. Erica Mendez, voice of Mash Kyrielight, joins as a special guest to chat about a surprise in store for the game on Twitch this coming Monday, December 18th.

Mother to otaku daughter gets top marks for awesomeness

We shared this thread earlier this week, but this cool mama with her Naruto-mad daughter is quite simply the purest of parent goals.

Your posts

Once again, you guys have been wowing us with your work this week. We want to celebrate that, so heeeeere we go!

Moyatorium – 10 Best Things: Howl’s Moving Castle – Moyatori writes wonderful lists with a difference that’ll inspire you to look at certain anime in a new way. This one on the unforgettable aspects of Howl’s Moving Castle is a lovely recollection of the small things that make the movie so stunning.

Beneath the Tangles – Magi: Helplessly Hopeful & Unrestrained Thanks – Morgiana was always one of our favourites from Magi. Matthew gives us all the more reason to adore her with a fond look at her salvation, from his uplifting perspective as a follower of the Christian faith.

Otaku Times – Are Otaku (Nerds) Uncool? (Japanese Interview) – Ever wonder what the Japanese really think of otaku, especially when we adopt the banner overseas? This smart little interview piece from That Japanese Man Yuta unearths some sweet sentiments of cross-cultural unity.

All Hail Haruhi – Excalibur: Is It a Man? Is It a Sword? No! It’s Anime’s Greatest Husbando – This last one is a little bit from-the-vaults, but we’re glad we didn’t miss this humorous piece from All Hail Haruhi. It takes a heroic soul to love Soul Eater‘s Excalibur this much, but this fanfictional gem almost convinced us we’d want him as our husbando too. More of these, please, we’re hooked!

Whew, and that’s it for another week. Hasn’t it flown? Sure does when you’re having fun blogging. Whatever you’re up to this weekend, have a good one, and we’ll catch up next week.
