Bleach live-action movie

As the live-action Bleach prepares for the soul-reaping, opening on July 20th in Japan, Warner Bros. have dropped a new trailer to keep us hanging on. The moment framed in this 30-second tease will be a memorable one for any fan, as it shows the beginner shinigami Ichigo heading out to take on his first Hollow.

Ichigo is performed by Sota Fukushi, and his co-star Hana Sugisaki was recently revealed as Rukia. The film is directed by Shinsuke Sato of GANTZ and I Am a Hero, and reportedly went for principal shooting from September to November 2016. If this is the case, post-production will have been a long process, and the prop sword captured in set photos of Fukushi as Ichigo would attest to that.

In keeping with the early story beat of this first trailer, the film adapts the Substitute Shinigami arc of Tite Kubo’s manga, which was told across its first to eighth volumes. It seems like this arc could shape up very well based on the clip we’ve seen, but what do you think?
